Balagne

Often nicknamed "the Garden of Corsica", thanks to its fertile hills, Balagne is still known as Saint Balagne because of the large number of religious buildings there. Another appropriate adjective to describe this place would be “festive” , as everything here is merely a pretext for celebration.
One could not dream of a more picturesque location at Calvi: the vast bay and 5 km -long beach, the backdrop of mountains covered with snow until May, the walls of the citadel that stretch out into the sea . Take a stroll round the ramparts of this proud city whose motto "Semper Fidelis" was the cause of a turbulent and troubled past. Go down towards the marina and its port, one of the best in Corsica and just a little further, you can lay your towel out on the beach. "L'ile Rousse" is the island's other seaside resort. Its name comes from the red porphyry rocks on the island of Pietra, just to the north of Calvi.
